Yamamoto Sound Craft HS-3 is Boxwood material of very fine specific gravity 0.75 head shell. Boxwood material is a precious material which is used for the comb and seal for long time ago. It is a little bit heavy than Sakura wood, the wooden gain is very fine and is known for excellent elasticity and strength as a pick for Japanese strings "Syamisen". Finished headshell weight is light weight 8.2g.
The lighter the weight, the higher its sensitivity. Leveraging its lightness, it recommend using it as a light vibration system.
In case of difficult to make ideal weight balance of the tonearm, it becomes easily to make good balance with using weight adjustable washer Yamamoto WA-1.
The finger hook is gold plated brass made. The wood itself does not produce a unique resonance sound, there is almost no squeal of finger hook which is sometimes problem with the metal shell.
It is adjustable the degree of shell and connecter by a screw of shell root. It allows to adopt various tonearms, cartridges and turntables.

ReviewDeep, clear sound by Boxwood. Sharp and no turbidity. Female vocals are also noteworthy. The sound density is high and it is very liquid. I feel crisp and crisp without cloudiness. Piano and violin solo, or a small organized music of acoustic musical instruments that HS-3 is the best choice of them.
