DESCRIPTION: Original vintage photograph, August 1939 railroad accident near New Gloucester Maine. Identification of photos is taken from captions in a photo album, writing on the back, or from similar photos in the collection.

Richard Bowers Oliver was a news photographer, born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, May 19, 1913. He moved to Auburn Maine and resided at 25 Hampshire Street. He worked for the Lewiston Journal Newspaper but appears to have done a lot of freelance work as a news photographer. We are in the process of listing about 2000 of his great photographs, so please check our other offerings.
