Attractive original watercolour study of blue irises with green stems and leaves, signed “MH” and dated 1996 lower centre. The reverse bears a contemporary address label for Miss Margaret Hall of Norwich (9 Eden Close, Harvey Lane, NR7 0BH) together with an Orford Frames (Norwich) label, confirming local Norfolk provenance.
The watercolour is presented on a double mount (aperture 22.5 cm × 33.5 cm) within a glazed frame measuring 38 cm wide × 49 cm tall overall. The composition is well balanced, with good tonal variation in the petals and careful observation of the foliage. Condition appears good from the photographs – clean paper, fresh-looking pigments, and a sound frame ready to hang with wire.
A comparable unframed landscape watercolour by the same Margaret Hall (Blythburgh Church, 1998) has been offered by a Norwich antiques dealer. Irises remain a popular subject, and this signed, dated, professionally framed local example should appeal to collectors of botanical watercolours and Norfolk art.
