Antique Wooden Butter Pats – Pair of Carved Treen Dairy Paddles – c.1880–1920

A charming pair of antique wooden butter pats, traditionally used for working, shaping and removing excess moisture from freshly churned butter.

These are particularly attractive examples, being smaller than many traditional dairy paddles and featuring beautifully carved handles with a repeated decorative pattern.

Each paddle has a deeply ribbed working face and a smooth reverse, with a lovely warm colour and well-developed patina from age and handling.

The two paddles remain joined by an old length of cord threaded through the handles, adding to their rustic character.
