Antique Arts & Crafts Hugh Wallis Signed Hammered Brass Oval Tray - 17.5"
A superb, collector-grade early 20th-century Arts and Crafts movement oval brass tray hand-crafted by the highly renowned metalwork artist Hugh Wallis (1871-1943) at his Altrincham workshop.
This piece showcases Wallis' iconic hand-beaten, dimpled texture along the inside border. Crucially, it features the distinctive flat, straight, unrolled edge characteristic of his studio metalwork, separating it entirely from mass-manufactured trays. It is clearly stamped on the upper surface edge with his signature square 'HW' monogram maker's mark.
The tray retains an incredibly rich, warm historic patina showing beautiful golden tone variances and light honest age wear from decades of display. Structurally excellent with no harsh dents or warping. Collectors often prefer these left in their original state, so it has not been aggressively polished.
