Space-saving solution

Unlike conventional split air conditioners that need a separate outdoor compressor for every room, the Akai Mistral dual-split runs two rooms from a single outdoor compressor. That saves on installation cost, saves on running cost, and keeps the outside of your property tidy. Each indoor unit has its own remote control, so both rooms can be set independently.

The pairing is deliberate:

• 9000 BTU indoor for a bedroom, nursery, home office or study (25 sqm)
• 12000 BTU indoor for a lounge, dining room or open-plan space (35 sqm)

Cooling & heating, all year round

The Mistral is a full heat pump system - it cools in summer and heats in winter, at up to 6.16 kW of heating output. The Strong Dehumidify function pulls excess moisture out of the air for better air quality, and it’s genuinely useful for drying laundry on wet days.

Inverter performance

The Mistral uses DC inverter technology - the compressor speed ramps up and down with demand instead of switching hard on and off. Cooling output modulates from just 1.23 kW up to 5.6 kW, and power draw from 280 W to 2050 W. That means it hits target temperature fast, then sips power to hold it. Inverter systems typically cut 40–60% off the energy bill versus a fixed-speed equivalent, and they run far more quietly once they’ve settled.

Customise your comfort & save energy

Don’t waste money heating rooms nobody is in. A dual split lets you create separate temperature zones in the parts of your home you actually use. Heating by heat pump is up to 4 times more efficient than electric heating.

At full cooling tilt the Mistral draws 1545 W - around 42p per hour at 27p/kWh. Once it’s holding temperature, the inverter can drop as low as 280 W, or about 8p per hour.

Built to be lived with

• Silent operation - larger-diameter fan blades move the same air more quietly, down to 32 dB(A) on the lowest indoor setting
