This vintage postcard was sent to Jorge Pineda. It was mailed from Yokohama, Japan, on September 19, 1908,
containing a message written in Spanish from a traveling collector or friend.

Front Japanese Caption (Bottom Right): 靖國神社境内ノ噴水 (Fountain in the precincts of Yasukuni Shrine). 

2 sen green Japanese Chrysanthemum stamp affixed at the top right of the back face, 
ied by a circular "YOKOHAMA JAPAN" postmark dated "19 9 08" (September 19, 1908);
duplicate postmark strike at the bottom right of the front face.

Front: Light corner rounding and mild edge wear; minor surface toning; hand-colored detailing remains distinct;
circular postmark ink strike visible over the lower right image area; pencil/ink script across top margin ("aquí Salud...").

Back: Light, overall age-toning; small pencil mark in upper right area;
complete handwritten Spanish message on the left side discussing an exchange of postcards ("el canje de postales");
clear recipient address in ink on the right.

The recipient addressed on the postcard, "Mr. George Pineda, Manila" (often spelled Jorge Pineda in Spanish/Filipino contexts),
refers to the prominent Filipino master painter, illustrator, and cartoonist.

During the early 20th century, Pineda was a prolific postcard collector and correspondent,
frequently receiving foreign postcards in Manila from exchange partners around the world.

Born in Manila in 1879, Jorge Pineda was a major figure in early 20th-century Philippine art,
alongside contemporaries like Fernando Amorsolo.
He worked as an illustrator and editorial cartoonist for notable early publications such as,
Lipang Kalabaw, Renacimiento Filipino, and the Philippine Free Press.

He is credited with popularizing the visual symbol of Juan de la Cruz (the Philippine national personification).
and designed official artwork including currency (the pre-war 20-peso bill featuring Mayon Volcano),
postage stamps, and sweepstakes tickets.

Won a bronze medal for painting at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
