México. Chapultepec – La Gran Fuente (The Great Fountain).

The colorized photograph depicts "La Gran Fuente" (The Great Fountain) located in Chapultepec Park, Mexico City.
This structure was later modified and integrated into what is known today as the Fuente de la Templanza (Fountain of Temperance).

Two green 2 centavos Correos Mexico stamps affixed at top left of the front;
circular transit marks on reverse including "NUEVO LAREDO" (MAR 24 1908) and "SAN FRANCISCO CAL." (MAR 28 1908).

Front: Edge nick and small tearing along the top left border near the stamps; corner rounding; surface age-toning;
two 2c stamps positioned upper left; extensive handwritten Spanish message in ink along the bottom and right margins.

Back: Moderately heavily toned throughout with light surface handling marks;
distinct machine cancel and circular transit postmarks overlaying the centered "Tarjeta Postal" header;
clearly legible handwritten routing note ("Via New York") and recipient address.

About Jorge Pineda
The recipient addressed on the postcard, "Mr. George Pineda, Manila" (often spelled Jorge Pineda in Spanish/Filipino contexts),
refers to the prominent Filipino master painter, illustrator, and cartoonist.

During the early 20th century, Pineda was a prolific postcard collector and correspondent,
frequently receiving foreign postcards in Manila from exchange partners around the world.

Born in Manila in 1879, Jorge Pineda was a major figure in early 20th-century Philippine art,
alongside contemporaries like Fernando Amorsolo.
He worked as an illustrator and editorial cartoonist for notable early publications such as,
Lipang Kalabaw, Renacimiento Filipino, and the Philippine Free Press.

He is credited with popularizing the visual symbol of Juan de la Cruz (the Philippine national personification).
and designed official artwork including currency (the pre-war 20-peso bill featuring Mayon Volcano),
postage stamps, and sweepstakes tickets.

Won a bronze medal for painting at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
