Vintage Polistil / Politoys L1 Ferrari 312 PB No.11 – Jacky Ickx & Mario Andretti – Original Display Base & Cover

A particularly attractive original Polistil L1 Ferrari 312 PB, made in Italy and dating from the early 1970s.

This 1:32 scale diecast model represents the famous No.11 Ferrari 312 PB driven by Jacky Ickx and Mario Andretti, winners of the 1972 BOAC 1000 km at Brands Hatch.

The model itself has survived in excellent original condition and presents extremely well, with exceptionally bright and glossy Ferrari red paintwork and very little obvious play wear.

It retains an impressive array of its original period racing markings, including Shell, Carello, Firestone, Chronograph Heuer, Britax, Champion and Ferrari decals, together with the large No.11 race numbers and the original JACKY ICKX / MARIO ANDRETTI lettering.

The detailed silver wheels, black tyres, cockpit, steering wheel, rollover bar and striking exposed rear engine and four-pipe exhaust assembly are all present and display particularly well.

One of the small Firestone decals ahead of the cockpit has lifted at one side, although the original decal remains intact and attached. This has deliberately been left untouched rather than attempting a modern repair.

The underside of the model is marked FERRARI 312-PB.

A particularly nice feature of this example is that it retains its original Polistil yellow display base, complete with the period POLI toys L1 FERRARI 312 identification label. The underside of the base is moulded POLISTIL – MADE IN ITALY.

The original clear acrylic/plastic display cover is also included. The cover is cracked in several places across the top but remains complete and intact, as clearly shown in the photographs. It still sits over the display base correctly and is included as an important original part of the presentation set.

Condition:
The Ferrari itself is in excellent original vintage condition with only very minor age-related marks and the partially lifted Firestone decal noted above. The display base is very good with some age to the original label. The transparent display cover is complete but cracked and shows surface scratching and age-related wear.

A very attractive surviving example of an early Polistil Ferrari sports-racing model, made especially desirable by its excellent car, famous Ickx/Andretti race pairing and surviving original display presentation.

Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the actual model, base and cover being offered.
