Some information out A.I. :
Saint Benedict of Nursia (c. 480–547) is the founder of Western monasticism and author of the Rule of Saint Benedict, the foundational guide for communal monastic life across Europe. Born in Nursia in central Italy, he left Rome as a young man, disturbed by its moral decline, and lived first as a hermit at Subiaco. His holiness attracted disciples, leading him to establish several monasteries and ultimately the great abbey of Monte Cassino, where he wrote his Rule around 530.
His Rule emphasizes obedience, humility, and the balance of prayer and work (ora et labora), shaping monastic culture for centuries. In recognition of the civilizing role of Benedictine monasteries in medieval Europe, Pope Paul VI proclaimed him Patron Saint of Europe in 1964.
