For sale is a genuine Turbo Technics F70 conversion for the Ford 2.9 V6, originally removed from a 1988 Ford Granada/Scorpio 2.9 4x4.
I have the original Turbo Technics identification plaque from the car, confirming the F70 conversion.
The engine has been fully stripped and refreshed. During the rebuild I fitted:
• New main bearings • New big-end bearings • New piston rings • New gaskets throughout • Components cleaned and painted before reassembly • Original Turbo Technics F70 exhaust manifolds retained, with cast numbers 2002 and 2003 • Original Turbo Technics twin-turbo conversion hardware
The engine has been carefully reassembled by me and presents very well following the refresh. I originally intended to fit this into my 2.3 Ghia cortina but it never happened. It has since sat on my engine stand in my heated garage for a few years. This conversion has had the combustion chambers milled away to lower the compression ratio. When I reassembled it I used thicker head gaskets which I believe are no longer available so I could run a touch more boost. The turbos are the original so I don’t know the condition of them but they spin freely without much play in the shafts. You are buying what you see in the pictures. I did have the ecu which ran the engine but I can’t find it at the moment. If I find it that will be included in the sale. I also have some hoses but again I have to look for them. If I find anything connected to this I’ll happily include it all. Personally I’d use a stand alone ecu and do away with the extra 2 fuel injectors. It’s a rather crude way of controlling fuel ratio. With a modern stand alone ecu and a good map you can use the 6 injectors without the extra stuff TT added at the time.
This is not a modern replica conversion or a standard 2.9 with aftermarket turbochargers fitted. It is genuine period Turbo Technics F70 hardware, making it a very unusual and desirable piece of Ford/Turbo Technics history.
Ideal for someone restoring a genuine Turbo Technics Granada/Scorpio, building a period-correct performance Ford, or simply looking for a rare and interesting engine/conversion.
Engine is being sold as pictured. Please study the photographs carefully and feel free to ask any questions regarding the specification or rebuild.
Genuine F70 engines/conversions are extremely rare, so this is a great opportunity to acquire the genuine hardware rather than reproduce the conversion from scratch.
Update. I’ve found the intercooler and some pipes. Also the twin airflow meters with the aluminium air filter lid. I’ve added pics.
