Offered for your consideration is a pair of vintage Polk Audio RM2000 Series II two-way satellite speakers, USA-manufactured c.1996. The Reference Monitor 2000 Series II feature poly cone 3½” mid/bass woofers and ½” dome tweeters mounted on a sloped baffle to eliminate phase distortion.

Those capable drivers are housed in dense polymer enclosures that closely mimic stone or marble and are quite heavy for their size, measuring 7” tall x 4⅜” wide x 5” deep. They were original equipment in several Polk Audio Reference Monitor subwoofer/satellite systems in the 1990's. When sold by themselves, they retailed at some $500 on the pair.

So, please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if these exceptional Polk Audio speakers should be yours.

This pair of Polk Audio RM2000 Series II speakers is in very clean, excellent condition. There are no dings, chips, or scratches on the very solid cabinets, not even on the bottoms. The finish has dulled just a bit from handling over the years, which could be spiffed up with stone countertop polish or similar.  Plus, the grilles have no flaws to the fabric or rigid plastic frames and the emblems look great. Overall, these Polk Audio speakers have been taken care of really well and present very nicely at all distances.

In addition, the woofers’ poly cones and voice coil dustcaps are flawless and so are the tweeter diaphragms, well-protected behind the acoustically transparent wave guides. Plus, the surrounds are foam, but it's the modern, treated polyether type with no wear or decay noted, as pictured.

Most importantly, I’ve tested the speakers extensively and they play strong and clear with fast, detailed midrange, sparkly 22kHz highs, and good bass response for the platform size even without a subwoofer. Being satellites that will likely be paired with a sub, they’re rated to just 150Hz on the low end, but I think they can safely play somewhat lower than that on their own.

They also have recessed, heavy-duty binding post terminals that can accommodate banana plugs, pins, as well as fairly large gauge raw cable. And, the rears have dual threaded inserts for wall or ceiling mount use.

As pictured and described, this superb pair of Polk Audio RM2000 Series II speakers is offered at a competitive price.

I encourage prospective buyers to ask any questions they may have about this pair of Polk Audio RM2000 Series II speakers as there are no cancellations, returns, refunds, or claims considered for this listing.
