Offered for your consideration is a pair of vintage MESA Electronics Mini-Mesa 25-E two-way, three-driver speakers, manufactured in Japan c.1981. MESA Electronics was a speaker manufacturer/importer in Arlington Heights, IL that was carried primarily by audio stores in the Midwest. Very little information exists on the Mini-Mesa model range, but I’ve established that the 25-E was only available in 1981-82.

The 25-E features a pair of 3” wide-range mid/bass woofers flanking a horn-loaded tweeter in a D’Appolito M-T-M configuration. Those capable drivers are housed in acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosures constructed of a sturdy polymer in black with perforated metal grilles. They measure a modest 8¼” x 3¾” x 3½” (not incl. the mount brackets) and have good weight for their size. If oriented horizontally, the Mini-Mesa 25-E exudes a reasonably-sized center channel speaker, at least a decade before the center speaker started to become a widespread thing!

Please see my large photos, the specs image above, and read the remaining description to decide if these practically impossible-to-find MESA Electronics speakers should be yours.

This pair of Mini-Mesa 25E speakers is in clean, very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on the enclosures, just some very light handling and usage marks from the years, as pictured. Plus, the metal grilles have no dents, dings, or scratches besides a few tiny flecks of missing black enamel and some light scuffs to the rigid plastic edges. There are no emblems on the grilles and I’m not sure if there even were originally? Overall, these neat compact speakers are quite nicely preserved.

In addition, the woofers’ paper cones and metallic voice coil dustcaps are perfect while the tweeters’ diaphragms are also flawless, well-protected in the horn throat. Plus, the woofers have permanent rubber surrounds that will last indefinitely.

Most importantly, the speakers play strong and clear with fast, detailed midrange, sparkly highs, and good low-end response for the woofer size. Plus, the +/- screw terminals hold raw speaker cable, or preferable u-shaped connectors, tightly.
Lastly, the enclosures’ rears have an unusual-style of two-piece mount brackets that support vertical and horizontal positioning, but I’m not certain that the mounts are complete? At present, they hold properly to anchored screws and, of course, can be removed (or just left alone) if wall mounting isn’t the plan.

So, as pictured and described, this capable, truly rare pair of MESA Electronics Mini-Mesa 25-E speakers is offered at a competitive price.

I encourage prospective buyers to ask any questions they may have about this pair of Mini-Mesa 25-E speakers as there are no cancellations, returns, refunds, or claims considered for this listing.
