Here we have a wonderful Shimano 105 RD-5500, 9 Speed Short Cage Rear Derailleur. It uses traditional Shimano cable pull geometry, making it cross-compatible across a wide array of vintage 7, 8, 9 drivetrains.

Hailing from the 1990s, the mech is in excellent condition, having been removed from a lightly used classic road bike in time warp condition.

The jockey wheels have no wear, the adjustment bolts all turn freely and it is clean and free of rust.

The only real signs of use are a few light scratches on the swing arm which I have shown in the pictures.

Overall a top quality component that would make a first class addition to a vintage bike build.
