Six antique illustrated children’s books spanning more than half a century—a visually cohesive collection of fairy tales, fables and classic juvenile literature in wonderful period bindings.

The group combines recognizable authors and subjects with strong illustration interest and unusually appealing shelf presence. The six volumes are:

Fables of Aesop and Others — Samuel Croxall. New York: Clark, Austin & Smith, 1857. With 198 illustrations. The earliest book in the collection, in blue cloth with gilt pictorial decoration. Good.

Poganuc People: Their Loves and Lives — Harriet Beecher Stowe, 1878. Illustrated. Decorative blue cloth. Very Good.

Chums: A Tale for the Youngsters — Harleigh Severne, 1878. Illustrated by Harry Furniss. A very scarce Victorian juvenile title in handsome red pictorial cloth. Very Good.

Hans Andersen’s Fairy Tales — 1912. Illustrated, including color plates. Decorative blue pictorial cloth. Good.

Fairy Tales from Far Away — told by Marie Bayne; illustrated by G. Malcolm Patterson. No date, early 20th century. Includes striking color and black-and-white illustrations. Red pictorial binding. Very Good+.

Flowers from Fairy Land — c. 1912. Illustrated. Decorative blue binding. Very Good.

Together they make a particularly attractive antique children’s library: blue and red decorated bindings, fairy tales and fables, Victorian juvenile literature, and illustrations ranging from mid-19th-century wood engravings to early-20th-century color plates.

Condition: Good to Very Good+ overall. These are genuine antique books and show varying degrees of age and use, including rubbing, edge/spine wear and other expected imperfections. Please examine the photographs carefully; they form an important part of the condition description.
