The six string quartets of Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar deserve to be as well known as those of Dvorak or Bartok, rather than the CD rarities that they are. I believe this out of print Musica Sveciae disc from 1986 of the Quartet #3 in F Major and Quartet #4 in A minor was the first time these two were ever put on CD; BIS finally brought out a second recording three decades later.
Both quartets were composed in the first decade of the 20th century, and are equal in invention and dramatic power to Stenhammar's symphonies, if a bit more somber. That's high praise. The Gotland String Quartet perform. Nice booklet, too, filled with musical examples. My highest recommendation!

Disc, booklet, and case are in mint condition.

About Jimmosk's CDs
I sell high-quality, little-known works, mostly 19th- and 20th-century. Many of the CDs are used, some are still-sealed, and most are the only one of that disc I have to offer. I sell a low volume of CDs, but that way I can listen to each (except the sealed ones :-) and describe the music to give you a better idea of what you're in for before you plunge into the unknown!
