A large pair of amazing vintage late 60s screen printed Marimekko fabric curtains. There are areas of fading, especially at the edges, and one edge in particular is falling apart and will need mending. See photos. The original lining has been carefully removed. There are a few small marks but overall this fabric is in very good condition considering its age.

The "Kikki" fabric pattern was designed by Petra Suvanto for the Finnish textile and clothing brand Marimekko in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It has a dark warm grey background with rich orange and earthy turmeric/tan-brown organic abstract shapes reminiscent of mushrooms or trees. Very Scandi and retro.

This listing is for two enormous unlined curtains, EACH ONE measuring approximately 344cm wide by 157cm drop, giving a TOTAL fabric quantity of 6.88 metres by 1.57 metres.

Each curtain is made up of three panel drops of this fabric, each drop being approx 115cm wide. These have been attached at the selvedge (not always perfectly straight but clearly a home sewer did this in the 70s!)

There are some marks and imperfections but most of the fabric is still rich and strong in colour. Original header tape is still attached and is quite faded/marked and I was unable to undo the knotted threads of the header tape.

I bought these as vintage items 20 years ago and have loved them in one of my bedrooms (north-facing with blackout blinds so very minimal sun exposure since I’ve owned them) but I’m ready for a change and they are looking for a new home.

Because the curtains are so big you could easily trim and re-hem the worn edges and still have a lovely big pair of curtains for a wide window. You could also create floor length curtains if you have basic sewing skills. Also perfect to use for smaller light upholstery projects.

These have been freshly laundered in fairy non-bio liquid. Smoke free home but I have a white whippet and although she has not been allowed near them you may find the odd stray hair.
