This is the English-language edition of the Hobonichi Techo Cousin, a one-page-per-day techo in A5 size.
Like the Japanese edition of the Cousin, the techo provides one page per day for you to write schedules, journal entries, and notes; paste in tickets and photos; sketch; and much more. The ample space of the Cousin’s daily pages makes it especially easy to use for compiling all your work notes into one book, keeping a parenting diary, or creating a shared journal with someone. Many also use it as a “desk techo” — one that they keep at home or at the office rather than carry around.
The page design is based on a 3.7 mm grid layout, refined through countless adjustments over the years. It’s ideal for writing neat schedules and text, and comes in handy whenever you want to sketch diagrams or illustrations. Just like the Japanese-language edition of the Cousin, each month is printed in a different color.
On each spread of daily pages, you’ll find Daily Quotes in English, which are carefully selected from content on the Hobonichi website. This makes the techo a pleasure to read through as well as write in.
You’ll also find vertical Weekly Pages that are unique to the Hobonichi Techo Cousin. Writing your plans along a vertical timeline makes it easy to manage your schedule on a week-by-week basis.

The Hobonichi Techo Cousin Book is an A5-sized techo with ample writing space, featuring one page per day. This April-start version starts in April 2027 and covers through March 2028.
Not only is it useful for writing down your plans for the day, jotting down memos, doodling, pasting event tickets or photos, the spacious Cousin is easy to use as a techo to write down everything work-related, as a family notebook, tracking the growth of children and pasting in pictures to create a family album or sharing pages among family members. It’s also frequently used as a planner that is always kept on a desktop or table rather than carrying around.
After years of testing, the graph paper has been set to 3.7 mm for optimal writing comfort. The graph paper design allows users to write from any starting point on the page, and the lines have been printed in light colors so users can either customize it to their own layout or ignore it completely.
The Hobonichi Techo includes quotes specially chosen from the Hobonichi website. Each daily page has a quote in Japanese.

The Hobonichi Techo Avec is a two-volume version of the one-page-per-day Hobonichi Techo, designed to be lighter and easier to carry. The year is split into two books: January through June and July through December. The first volume has a lime yellow cover, and the second volume has an ice blue cover.
Because the year is divided into two volumes, each book is slim and light. This makes it easy to carry around, even when you’ve filled the pages with lots of clippings and mementos.
The page layout and specifications are essentially the same as the standard Cousin. (There are some differences in the calendar period covered and the number of bonus pages.) The daily pages give you plenty of space to write schedules, journal entries, and notes; paste in tickets and photos; sketch; and much more.
In addition to the yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and yearly index, you’ll also find vertical Weekly Pages that are unique to the Hobonichi Techo Cousin. Writing your plans along a vertical timeline makes it easy to manage your schedule on a week-by-week basis.

The A5-size Day-Free is a notebook-style techo that includes both grid-lined notebook pages and a monthly calendar. Since it’s the same size as the Hobonichi Techo Cousin, you can use the same covers for both.
It’s roughly half as thick as the Hobonichi Techo Cousin, making it even easier to carry around with you.
The notebook pages are printed with a 3.7 mm grid. Each page is formatted in the Day-Free style and includes a page number. The A5-size Day-Free contains 171 pages in total.
You can write as much or as little as you want, whenever you want, without being tied to specific dates. Write a journal entry, draw pictures or diagrams, paste in tickets, doodle — enjoy using it any way you like.
At the bottom of each grid-lined page, you’ll also find one carefully selected quote from the Hobonichi website.
The monthly calendar is the same one included in the Hobonichi Techo Cousin — a calendar with a faint grid printed across the full page, making it easy to jot down plans and notes. It covers December 2026 through March 2028. While there’s no April-start edition of the Day-Free, you can use it all the way through March of the following year.
