This is a genuine 1935 wooden nickel souvenir issued for the Blue Island, Illinois Centennial (1835-1935).
Type: Rectangular "good-for" style wooden certificate.
Design (Obverse): Features a portrait of "Norman Rexford, Pioneer" with red "5" denominations and a red souvenir serial number "379".
Design (Reverse): Displays redemption terms from the Blue Island Centennial Association, noting it was redeemable for face value in U.S. coin at the Mayor's office until September 3, 1935. Also features an eagle and log cabin vignette.
Dimensions: 5.75 x 2.5 inches.
This piece was preserved in an old album and remains in extremely good condition with bold, legible printing. It is a neat piece of depression-era local Illinois exonumia.
