had led a troubled life: fights with parents…running with the bad boys…the usual stuff. But at 23, she turned it around. She had met Roger, a really great guy, and she was finally happy. Kathy decided to go home and show off Roger to her parents, the only two other people she had ever really loved. That they lived in the South, and that Kathy was white, and Roger was black didn’t make any difference. When she came home to find a serial killer in the process of butchering her parents, it didn’t make any difference to the cops, either. They shot Roger, and only later arrested the killer. Understandably, Kathy went mad.

Her life became even more insane when the killer was finally put to death. For at that moment, he was taken over by Shade, a man from the dimension of madness. Shade inhabits the bodies of the dead and passes through history in a stream of altered realities. And now, he’s Kathy’s new traveling companion.
