Original vintage signed photographic postcard of British boxing great Len Harvey, dating from circa 1938.
A superb period portrait showing Len Harvey (1907ā1976) in boxing pose, with a large original ink autograph across the lower portion of the photograph.
The card itself records Harvey's impressive championship achievements:
British Heavyweight Champion 1933
British Empire Heavyweight Champion 1934
Undefeated Light Heavyweight Champion
Winner outright of the Lonsdale Middleweight Belt
Harvey was one of the outstanding British boxers of the inter-war period. During an extraordinary professional career spanning the 1920sā1940s, he competed from middleweight through to heavyweight and fought many of the leading British and international fighters of his generation.
The photograph bears the studio credit Croop, Birmingham & Worcester in the lower right corner and has a traditional divided postcard reverse.
The autograph is a genuine period ink signature rather than a printed facsimile. It crosses the photographic image beneath Harvey's feet and remains clearly visible.
This card dates from approximately 1938 and has survived for nearly 90 years.
