Offered for your consideration is a CANTON 15mm dome tweeter that was original equipment in the CANTON Plus MX surround speakers, made c.2003. The tweeter was epoxied to the back of the faceplate during speaker manufacture, so the whole assembly must be replaced if you have a blown tweeter (which is simple to do, as I’ll describe later).

Please see my large photos, measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if this capable CANTON high frequency driver should be yours.

*Although the listing is written in singular to avoid any confusion, two (2) identical CANTON Plus MX tweeters are available at the time of this writing. Please choose if you’d like to buy one or both in the quantity field at the top of the listing. Any additional shipping cost that may be needed will be applied at eBay checkout.

This tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. It has a flawless, dimple-free radiating surface well protected by the acoustically transparent wave-guide. Plus, the sturdy black plastic faceplate assembly has no scratches or cracks. And, I’ve left several inches of the +/- input wires soldered to the terminals for the new owner’s convenience when splicing-in to their speaker. Overall, this CANTON tweeter looks practically new.

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds great—clear and strong output that goes deep into the beyond-audibility ‘sparkle’ zone with its 25kHz rating! And, I tested its DC resistance at 3.9-4.0Ω, consistent with a nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3½” wide x just under 4⅝” high.

Retrofitting to your CANTON MX speaker due to a blown, or otherwise damaged, tweeter is really easy to do.  Simply remove the grille by pulling at an edge or corner with a thin paper clip, safety pin, or similar.  Then, unscrew the four woofer bolts, carefully pull woofer out, and unplug the +/- wires.  Set woofer aside, cone side up.  Next, remove the two screws flanking the tweeter. Pull the front fascia/baffle assembly back and cut the wires close to the magnet of your blown tweeter. Strip those wires back ½” or so, twist like-colors to the wires on the new tweeter to ensure correct polarity, and wrap each twisted wire juncture with electrical tape or secure with wire nuts.  Reassemble everything, and you’re done!

Lastly, if considering this baffle with integral tweeter for a speaker build, the original 80mm (3¼”) woofer had mount holes spaced 2½” adjacent / 3½” on the diagonal, c-t-c, to align with the four lower holes on the assembly.

So, as pictured and described, this CANTON Plus MX 15mm dome tweeter is offered at a reasonable price.
