Description
Released in Japan in November 2003, the SHARP Zaurus SL-C860 is the classic Linux-powered clamshell PDA that developed a devoted following well outside Japan. Its 3.7-inch 640 x 480 VGA panel swivels on a hinge so the machine can be folded closed and used as a slate, or opened like a miniature laptop over its thumb keyboard. Inside is an Intel XScale PXA255 running at 400 MHz with 64 MB of SDRAM and 128 MB of flash memory, of which about 65 MB is available to the user, plus a CompactFlash Type II slot and an SD card slot for expansion. The C860 was the model that added SHARP's built-in Japanese to English translation software, and its open Linux base made the C-series a long-running favourite for homebrew and developer projects.
