Dido Plumb (real name Ernest Stewart) was an English middleweight/lightweight professional boxer active primarily during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in Islington, London, he competed in the prize ring from 1889 through 1910.

This slide comes directly from the historic 1923 lecture series "The Evolution of Boxing", produced and presented by The Ring magazine founder and legendary boxing historian Nat Fleischer. Fleischer assembled these glass slides to tour athletic clubs, theaters, and private venues to illustrate the history of prize fighting in America. I purchased at auction a collection of about 300 glass slides. The boxes were titled “The Evolution of Boxing” A Unique Illustrated Lecture Given by Nat Fleischer Sports Editor of The New York Evening Telegram 1923. I will be listing these slides over the next several months. Many are of Dempsey, Corbett, Jack Johnson and many others in many weight classes.
