Offered for your consideration is a vintage Acoustic Research P/N 1-210116-0A 19mm (¾ inch) dome tweeter removed from my AR 102 speakers, manufactured c.1990. This model tweeter was misdescribed as 1” in a period AR TSW-line sales brochure, evidently accounting for the entire faceplate opening instead of just the dome as customary. It may have been used in other AR models from this production era, but the buyer is responsible for verifying its suitability for any other speakers.

So, please have a look at my large photos, the measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if this capable Acoustic Research high frequency driver should be yours.

This AR tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The dome is in perfect shape having been well-protected underneath the acoustically transparent wave guide. Plus, there are no chips, cracks, or blemishes on the plastic faceplate and the magnet structure is in perfect order, as pictured. And, the +/- terminals are keyed for polarity (red-marked one is positive) and have never been soldered on the spades. Overall, it’s an exceptionally well preserved high frequency driver.

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds perfect—very strong and clear. Plus, I tested the DC resistance at 3.5-3.76Ω, consistent with its nominal 4 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 3¾” at widest x 3⅛” top-to-bottom, it stands 13/16” high, and the bottom mount holes are spaced 211/16” apart, with both being 29/16” from the single upper hole, c-t-c.

So, if you have a blown or damaged tweeter in your AR 102 or other suitable model, you’ve found the right listing—your speakers will be sounding their best once again! Long unavailable, it’s also a wise spare to have on hand just in case.
