DESCRIPTION: Striking antique French bronze fountain spout in the form of a fierce dragon or mythical beast, beautifully detailed with a scaled neck, curling snout, teeth and an ornamental mounting flange. Water flows through the fitting and exits from the round nozzle clenched between the creature’s jaws — a wonderfully dramatic piece of old architectural hardware likely originally used over a stone or marble lavabo or decorative architectural basin.
Rich, naturally aged bronze surface with wear and patina consistent with age and use. Retains the rear plumbing connection for installation. An exceptional piece of architectural salvage for restoration of an antique fountain, garden wall, courtyard, pool or as a sculptural display object.
CONDITION: Excellent condition with later replacement tube soldered to antique spout.
