Condition:

Very nice antique/vintage condition for its age. No obvious chips or cracks observed upon inspection. Displays age-related surface wear, paint wear/rubbing, light marks, discoloration/soiling and manufacturing irregularities consistent with an older hand-painted ceramic/porcelain figurine. Original underside paper residue/old label remains present. Please carefully review all photographs, including close-ups and underside, as they are an important part of the condition description.

Description:

Charming antique hand-painted girl figurine clearly marked “MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN” in red on the underside.

The young girl is depicted wearing a head scarf, apron, striped stockings and oversized brown shoes. She carries a dimensional woven-style basket filled with colorful flowers in one hand and holds a separate bouquet of flowers in the other.

A particularly attractive larger example of the post-WWII Occupied Japan decorative figurines, with expressive facial painting, colorful floral details and a distinctive folk/country appearance.

The exact mold/design appears considerably less common than many of the smaller Occupied Japan girl figurines typically encountered.
