Offered for your consideration is a vintage JBL part #72273-REVA 2 inch cone tweeter removed from my JBL 500 speakers, manufactured c.1998. This high frequency driver was also used in the JBL Flix10 center channel and is identical to the part #JBST00 tweeter in the JBL G40. Good chance it was also used in other JBL models in this production era.

This JBL tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. It has a structurally perfect paper cone and flawless voice coil dustcap as pictured. Plus, the rigid polymer basket is in great shape with no chips, scratches, or cracks at the mounting holes, just some indelible black epoxy that JBL used to secure the mount screws. Also, the +/- terminals have never been soldered on the spades and positive is marked with a red paint dot. Overall, this JBL tweeter looks practically new!

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds terrific—very strong with clear upper frequency detail. It’s rated to a full 20kHz and 50 watts as crossed over at 2.2kHz in the JBL 500 speakers.  Plus, I tested its DC resistance at 6.7Ω, consistent with a nominal 8 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 2¾” square, it stands about 1” tall, and the mount holes are spaced 23/16” adjacent / 31/16” diagonal apart, c-t-c.

This is a great find if your 500 or other suitable JBL model has a blown or damaged tweeter and will have your speaker sounding its best again! And, long out of production, it’s a great spare to have on hand just in case.
