Late-1970s Fender Jazz Bass Black 3-Ply Vinyl Pickguard
I am offering the pictured vintage black/white/black 3-ply vinyl pickguard for a Fender Jazz Bass. In my judgment, this is an original late-1970s Fender part, likely from approximately 1977-79.
This listing is for the pickguard only. A pickup cover, mounting screws, and all other hardware and instrument parts are not included.
Identification and Dating
Beneath the aluminum foil on the back is a raised rounded-rectangle outline in the typical location and shape of a factory Fender serial/date sticker. The outline remains visible through the foil.
I have not removed the aged aluminum foil. Therefore, I have not directly examined what remains beneath it, and I cannot verify the sticker information or establish the exact year from it. Based on the pickguard’s construction, configuration, aging, and the concealed sticker-shaped outline, I identify it as a late-1970s Fender Jazz Bass pickguard, likely circa 1977-79.
Condition
This is a well-used vintage pickguard with extensive natural aging and wear. The black face shows numerous scratches, scuffs, picking marks, and other surface wear. The middle ply has yellowed with age, making the three-ply edge particularly visible.
The pickguard also shows warping and mounting-hole wear. The pickup-cover mounting areas show previous modification or repair, as shown in the close-up photographs.

Rear Aluminum-Foil Shield
A full aluminum-foil shield was added to the back at some point. It appears to have been in place for a considerable period and shows oxidation, scratches, creasing, and surface wear.
Compatibility
I have not recorded dimensional measurements for this pickguard. Before purchasing, please compare the photographs, overall outline, pickup cutout, control-plate edge, neck-pocket area, and all mounting-hole locations carefully with the bass on which you intend to install it.
Vintage and later Jazz Bass pickguards can differ in outline and hole placement. If you need additional photographs or details to make that comparison, please send me a message before purchasing.

Shipping and Import Charges
To the USA: I ship via Japan Post or eBay SpeedPAK with full tracking. For qualifying merchandise shipments under current U.S. postal-import rules, I prepay the applicable import duty through the required DDP procedure. In other words, the applicable tariff is already covered, so you should not receive an unexpected import-duty bill at delivery. eBay may still collect state sales tax at checkout, and separate carrier or customs-processing fees may apply in some cases.
To other countries: I ship from Japan with tracking. Unless collected at checkout, import VAT, customs duties, customs-clearance charges, and compliance with local import regulations are the buyer's responsibility.
Returns
I accept returns within 30 days. The buyer is responsible for return shipping when the return is based on a change of mind, compatibility, or another buyer-side reason.
Drilling, enlarging or filling holes, trimming, sanding, reshaping, removing the aluminum foil, adding hardware, installation, or any other modification changes the condition of this vintage pickguard and may affect return eligibility or the amount refunded, within the limits of eBay rules.
