Antique Victorian Cast Iron Paper Letter Receipt Clip Wall Desk Shop Office

A handsome antique cast-iron spring clip, dating from approximately the late Victorian or Edwardian period, circa 1880–1910.

Designed for holding letters, invoices, receipts, notes or other paperwork, the clip could be used flat on a desk or hung from a wall using the hole in the rear plate. The long jaw has a row of cast gripping teeth, while the shaped upper section gives it a simple Gothic or Eastlake-influenced appearance.

A wonderfully practical piece of antique office, shop or household equipment, still useful today as a letter clip, receipt holder or decorative desk accessory.

Good antique condition with surface oxidation, scratches, finish loss and general wear consistent with considerable age and previous use. No maker’s mark found.
