"Conwy Falls" by Helen Tarr M.A (Fine Art)

This lovely painting has beautiful warm colours.

Painted en plein air - The falls are located in the last gorge section of the River Conwy at a point where it plunges 50 feet into a deep pool.

The falls are accessible via natural paths through the preserved woodland of the SSSI. Polecats and other wild animals, including 32 species of bird, inhabit the surrounding woodlands, which extend to approximately 9.5 acres (38,000 m2).

............. BY THE HIGHLY PRESTIGIOUS ARTIST HELEN TARR!!!!

As an artist I have been primarily concerned with painting Birmingham’s urban landscape. I paint its changing scenery not only as new buildings go up and old ones come down, but also the transformations caused by the seasons, weather and time of day. Working from my own photographs and painting in oils on canvas, I aim to capture something of the atmosphere and life of the city. I am also interested in reproducing in paint the distortions of colour and tone that occur in the photograph and how these effects lift the scene from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

I also paint rural landscapes and still-life subjects. My landscapes are often inspired by the beautiful South Gloucestershire Cotswolds and Severn Estuary, the places where I grew up, but I can usually find a subject where ever I go. These landscapes, like all my paintings, are primarily concerned with light and atmosphere and creating a dynamic and lively response to the subject. The still-life studies are an opportunity to work from direct observation, evoking the subject and capturing the changing light.
