You are bidding
on a 1960s Eastern Airline Air Crew Wing. The wing is used and is in good
condition with limited signs of wear or age. The wing has the so-called “hockey
stick” Falcon logo. The reverse side has a clutch back faster and comes with
top-hat style clutches that are in good working order. These wings were used up
until the 1970s when they switch to an enameled center. Founded in 1926 as Pitcairn Aviation,
Eastern Air Lines (1934) grew under the leadership of famed aviator Eddie
Rickenbacker to become one of the "Big Four" domestic airlines that
dominated American commercial flight. However, a combination of heavy debt,
severe union labor disputes, and industry deregulation forced the airline to
file for bankruptcy and cease all operations in January 1991. Be sure to check
out my other auctions for additional military collectables. Good luck and happy
bidding!
