Vintage Heavy Cast Bronze Marine Cross Head Mooring Bollard Jetty Pontoon

Description

Substantial vintage cast bronze / gunmetal marine cross-head mooring bollard, believed to have been intended for a pontoon, jetty, landing stage or similar marine installation.

A superb piece of genuine working maritime hardware, exceptionally solid and heavily constructed, with a square four-hole mounting flange, substantial central pedestal and transverse cross-head for taking mooring lines.

The surface has developed excellent natural character from age and exposure, with deep bronze tones, green verdigris, oxidation, knocks and working wear throughout.

Approximate dimensions:

* Base: 14–15 cm square

* Width across cross-head: approx. 18 cm

* Height: approx. 10 cm

* Four mounting holes

* Heavy cast construction

No maker’s marks identified.

Exact age and original location are unknown. The construction and extensive surface ageing are consistent with an older functional marine fitting rather than a modern decorative reproduction.

A particularly attractive piece of nautical and maritime salvage, suitable as a collectible in its own right, for a marine restoration project, or as an architectural/interior feature.

Condition: Good original used condition with substantial age and working-related patination, verdigris, oxidation, scratches, knocks and surface wear. Please see all photographs for detail.
