Significance
Apple's new security architecture on the A17 Pro made the 15 Pro Max effectively unjailbreakable from the day it launched. Dopamine 3.0 broke through, and it covers iOS 17.0 through 17.3.1 and nothing newer. iOS 17.4 and above on this hardware remains locked, likely for good.
iOS 17.0.3 was signed for only a few weeks in October 2023. This unit was frozen on it then: never activated, never charged, zero cycles, factory screen plastic still on. It has waited three years for the tool that now exists. A 15 Pro Max on jailbreakable firmware cannot be manufactured, restored, or updated into existence. The only way to own one is to find one that was preserved, and one accidental update ends it permanently.

Persistence, read this
Dopamine 3.0 is semi-untethered. After a reboot, open the app and tap Jailbreak to return to a jailbroken state. On this firmware the Dopamine app installs as a normal sideload and needs re-signing every 7 days, which takes about a minute. TrollStore does not exist above iOS 17.0. This is how the tool works on this firmware, not a fault of the device.
