These tracks aren't mixed together, which may frustrate those that want a non-stop rave-like experience, but on the other hand it's nice to hear the songs in their original state, from beginning to end. However, the transitions blend well enough. Some of the tracks on this collection are remixed; usually the most well-known version of the track is featured, for example, the more popular "Matt Darey Remix" of Delerium's "Heaven's Earth" rather than the original mix. Since the early '90s, React had been respected as one of Europe's most prolific outposts for trance music. In this case, many of the featured tracks weren't necessarily released by React, but the label went out of its way to license them for this compilation. Since it compiles many of the best trance anthems of 1999 and 2000, it's a stellar collection for anyone with a taste for trance -- particularly the more progressive side of the style -- from this late 90's era.
Trance - breaking out of the German techno and hardcore scene of the early '90s, Trance emphasized brief synthesizer lines repeated endlessly throughout tracks, with only the addition of minimal rhythmic changes and occasional synthesizer atmospherics to distinguish them -- in effect putting listeners into a trance.
