You are bidding on a WWI era, US Navy Chief Petty Officer Cap Device. The device is used and is in good condition with limited signs of wear and age. The device is made of Sterling and gilt. The foul is made of a twisted wire that is separately attached. The letters USN are superimposed of the foul and applied separately. The backside is hallmarked “STERLING” and has the American Emblem Company, of Utica, NY manufacturer’s mark of “A.E. Co.”.  The badge has a pin and open catch fastener that has been replaced/repaired using a piece of wire to secure the pin to the badge, and is in working order.
