Stamp of LATVIA 2026 - Latvian Architecture - VIZIUM Science Centre in Ventspils.
The stamp features characteristic architectural details of the building, complemented by symbolic depictions of the experiences and sensations awaiting visitors at the science centre. This creates a sequential story that traces a journey through the building from one experience of discovery to the next. The holographic solution naturally resonates with the technological nature of the science centre, while the bright, shifting colours create a visual link to the VIZIUM identity.
The
uniqueness of the new stamp lies not only in its subject, but also in the
technology used. For the first time in the history of Latvian philately,
holographic technology has been used in the design of a postage stamp. This
technology allows two different visual layers to be incorporated into a single
image, which become visible when the stamp is viewed from different angles.
Thus, a single stamp captures both the exterior of the science centre building
and the wealth of knowledge and technology it represents.
