The Implacable-class aircraft carrier HMS Implacable (R86) was in active service with the British Royal Navy from 1944 to 1954.

World War II (1944–1945): Commissioned on August 28, 1944. She initially operated with the Home Fleet, launching air strikes against German targets and shipping along the coast of occupied Norway.

The Pacific Theater (1945): In early 1945, she transferred to the British Pacific Fleet (BPF). Her air groups actively struck Japanese military positions, including major raids on the naval stronghold of Truk and mainland targets across the Japanese Home Islands.

Post-War Repatriation (1945–1946): Following the surrender of Japan, the carrier was repurposed to repatriate thousands of liberated Allied prisoners of war (PoWs) and troops back home.

Home Fleet Training Ship (1946–1954): She spent her remaining operational years in European waters serving as the primary deck-landing training carrier and occasional flagship for the Home Fleet.

She was officially decommissioned on September 1, 1954, and subsequently sold for scrap.

This specific HMS Implacable sweetheart brooch badge dates from the World War II era, roughly between 1942 and 1945.Because the aircraft carrier HMS Implacable was launched in 1942 and commissioned in 1944, these tokens were produced during the height of her wartime deployment. They were purchased by sailors and given to wives, mothers, or girlfriends as a keepsake during long wartime separations.
