A very early (3rd) edition of critical biography of Charles Dickens, published in Nov 1906 only 3 months after the 1st publication in Aug 1906. G K Chesterton (1874–1936) was himself a well-known and popular writer in the early 20th century, creating the fictional priest-detective Father Brown. Of Chesterton's non-fiction, this biography of the celebrated 19th-century novelist and social reformer Charles Dickens received the broadest-based praise and is said to have been responsible for creating both a popular revival for Dickens and a serious reconsideration of his novels by scholars.
