H V Morton (1892–1979) was a journalist and pioneering travel writer who first achieved fame in 1923 when he covered (for The Times) the opening of the tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt by Howard Carter. Morton had written numerous travel books about both the UK and abroad by the time he published 'In Scotland Again' in 1933. As the title suggests, this was a record of his second tour around Scotland, and the map on both front and back endpapers traces the route he followed north from Dumfries and Galloway, to John O'Groats with detours to Mull and Iona, then back down the eastern side of Scotland via Inverness, the Highlands, Aberdeen, Dundee, Stirling and Berwick. 'Highlands and Lowlands have never been interpreted with greater vitality, charm and affection' (Cover blurb). This copy is the 14th edition, published in 1948. The sepia photographs (dating from the original 1930s publication) are an especially attractive feature.
