The Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R KPGC10 — the “Hakosuka,” as Japanese enthusiasts know it, the boxy Skyline — is one of the most legendary performance cars in Japanese automotive history. Powered by the S20 DOHC 24-valve inline-six producing around 160hp in road specification, it was a car built with racing in mind from the outset, and it proved it: the KPGC10 GT-R dominated Japanese touring car racing in the early 1970s, winning a remarkable series of consecutive victories that established the GT-R name as a byword for performance and competitive success long before the R32 and its successors carried that reputation to a global audience.
The combination of the S20 engine’s smooth power delivery, the GT-R’s well-sorted chassis, and the factory’s commitment to the racing programme produced a car whose cultural significance in Japan is difficult to overstate — a vehicle that sits at the beginning of a lineage that continues today. In Silver the KPGC10’s clean, upright lines and period detailing are shown without embellishment. Otto Mobile’s 1:12 resin model captures the car at approximately 36cm in length, individually numbered in a limited edition of 2000. Officially licensed.
