The Renault Espace did not merely enter the European MPV market in 1984 — it created it, establishing a template for the multi-purpose vehicle that all subsequent competitors would follow and in the process changing the way European families thought about car travel. The RXE V6 i variant placed the PRV 3.0-litre V6 engine — the unit developed jointly by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo — at the top of the Espace range, its 150hp and smooth power delivery giving what was fundamentally a practical family carrier a performance character that genuinely distinguished it from the more ordinary alternatives in the class.
By 1991 the Espace had matured into a thoroughly developed vehicle with a loyal following among buyers who valued the combination of space, flexibility, and driving refinement that the V6 delivered. The RXE V6 i with its fuel-injected engine was the Espace at its most complete — a car ahead of its time when introduced and still impressive in its final development form. In Red Malaga the Espace’s distinctive slab-sided body and large glasshouse carry a warm, confident colour that suits the car’s family-focused character. Otto Mobile’s 1:18 resin model captures the car at approximately 25cm in length, individually numbered in a limited edition of 999, with display base. Officially licensed.
