A must have... if your fan of fantasy literature, the first movie adaptation of the greatest fantasy history ever
The Lord of the Rings: The Fotonovel (published in 1979) is
a unique, comic-style book adaptation of Ralph Bakshi’s 1978 animated film J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings Fotonovel. It features over 400 full-color frame blowups directly from the movie, accompanied by dialogue bubbles and captions.
I used to have this thirty-something-odd years ago when I was a kid. I was a big fan of Bakshi's film and, back then, there wasn't much out there to help you re-live the movies, at least not in our house. We didn't have cable or get a VCR for a few years later. That meant getting my sci-fi/fantasy movie fix from other sources like these Fotonovels. I had several of the Star Trek TOS books, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and so on. They're wonderful books loaded with images from the movie, all with speech bubbles of dialogue from the film. It's a fun way to revisit the film and a nostalgic window to your childhood like mine...unless of course you were fortunate and had a VCR in 1980 and somehow had a recording of it you could play whenever you wanted while I was sitting envious on a couch with my LOTR Fotonovel recreating the film in my head. Buying this book recently was like a little time machine taking me back to the good ole days that weren't always good...but they were mine
