ITEM DESCRIPTION

Vintage 1961 Gibson Melody Maker Single Cutaway Pickguard. This is a very cool vintage Gibson part from the final year of the original single cutaway Melody Maker body style.

This pickguard came from a 1961 Gibson Melody Maker that was originally fitted with the short Vibrola / short Vibrola roller tremolo setup. Because of that, the pickguard was originally cut to clear the Vibrola unit.

At some point later in its life, the cut area was extended/rebuilt with added black plastic material, bringing the outline closer to the standard non-Vibrola pickguard shape. This is a vintage used and modified part, with real age, wear, and history.

The pickguard shows honest vintage cosmetic wear, including scratches, scuffs, pick marks, edge wear, old screw-hole wear, repair/adhesive marks, and age-related surface wear. Please review all photos carefully, as they show the exact condition of the actual item.

Please note: This is a vintage part and has been modified. Screw-hole alignment, body outline, pickup routes, control holes, and tremolo clearance should all be checked carefully against your own guitar before purchase. Vintage Gibson parts can vary, and this pickguard may not fit every guitar without adjustment.

Condition

Vintage used condition. This pickguard has visible wear from age and use, including scratches, scuffs, pick marks, surface wear, edge wear, old screw-hole wear, and marks around the repaired/added section.

The original Vibrola-cut area has been later filled/extended with black plastic material. This is part of the history and character of the piece, but please understand that it is not an unmodified mint part.
