This story was written by Dickens exclusively for his children around 1846 - 1849 and was kept by his children unpublished for 85 years. The United Features Syndicate bought publication rights from the widow of Dickens last child who died 1933.

In 1934, multiple newspapers published a serialized version of Charles Dickens' The Life of Our Lord. The book version was also published that year. I see that some publications released it in 14 instalments, and others 3 (this was a 3 instalment), and some were black and white, while others were in color. The earliest papers to get it published, began publishing in march, this publisher began April 1st.

The publication of this previously unpublished work was a significant event, and American newspapers such as The New York American and others syndicated it simultaneously.
