This handmade brooch is a true testament to the craftsmanship of the era. Measuring 30mm in length and width, with a height of 16mm.

-Overall: pearls in excellent appearance and condition, excellent colour, no fades, no cracks or chips, the metal and clasp old aged dark patina colouration.

-Metal & Backing: Rhodium plating was commonly used by Rousselet during the 1940’s for his signature hand-wired metal mesh panel and a traditional French trombone clasp.

-The Materials: Louis Rousselet was one of the most famous twentieth-century French beadmakers. He made these specific faux pearls out of glass by coating them in a special mixture called essence d'Orient, which used fish scales to create a beautiful, realistic glow.

-The Assembly: Each individual glass pearl was attached to wires and painstakingly secured by hand to a double-layered metal base. This hand-wiring technique is a signature style of mid-century French couture jewelry.

-The Marks: While many of his jewelry pieces were left completely unmarked and just sold with paper tags, some similar items from his Parisian workshop are stamped directly on the back with "Made in France".
