This early Chesky exemplar presents Reiner's oft-celebrated and acclaimed reading of Rimsky-Korsakov's grandiose, epic Russian symphonic tone poem Scheherazade. Penguin Classical Guide once upon a time called Reiner's version "Brilliant and very exciting...has a climax of resounding power and amplitude." [Exactly Right!] For peerless sonics, this is arguably the best version of that epic performance ever engraved to vinyl. Chesky Records prides itself on offering superlative Audiophile re-issues of the very highest technical refinement and did so in the 80's by adroitly conveying pure, re-mixed stereo tracks direct from pre-amp to disk-cutting lathe. These unfiltered, ultra-clear stereo tracks were then preserved on highest-grade, heavy-weight vinyl pressed in Canada to exacting standards thus creating a record to treasure and audition for eons. This disk (RC4 in the Chesky Catalog) was first issued in 1983 and this copy is presumably a first edition given the vintage of the elite private record collection from whence it came. Early issue status confirmed by Disk Deadwax hand-engraved RC-4A ja (Side 1) and RC-4B-RE I ja (Side 2). Disk play graded throughout showing super-quiet surfaces, astounding stereo dynamics (Thank You!, original RCA Sound Technicians), and Chesky's signature enveloping, warm acoustics.  A certain audiophile rarity here!
