DESCRIPTION

The scarce first edition of Egypt Through War-Time, written by British historian Martin S. Briggs. Published by T. Fisher Unwin in 1918, the final year of the First World War.

In the publisher's original cloth, with a frontispiece, two sketch maps, including a folding map, and all thirty-two other plates. Collated complete.

Briggs wishes to depict Egypt through the eyes of a soldier during the war. With many prior travel books depicting Egypt as a luxurious tourist destination, this interesting personal account takes a different look during British military occupation.
