Brand History: Launched in 1966 by ChasProm (the Soviet Union's central scientific institute for horology) in partnership with a British distributor, Sekonda was created to export the very best timepieces from the USSR under a single, internationally approachable name. Rather than operating a standalone facility, Sekonda acted as an elite export umbrella, rebranding robust mechanical watches sourced from legendary Soviet factories like Poljot, Slava, Raketa, and Luch. By combining rugged, fully jeweled mechanical calibers with remarkably accessible pricing, the brand took the West by storm, ultimately becoming the number one selling watch brand in the UK by 1988. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Sekonda severed its Russian manufacturing ties in 1993 and transitioned into a contemporary fashion watch company, making these original, cold-war era "Made in USSR" mechanical models highly collectible fragments of horological history.

Watch Description: Housed in an elegant gold-plated square case that perfectly channels mid-century sophistication, this vintage Sekonda masterfully represents the peak era of Soviet horological export. The watch features a striking cream dial anchored by a bold Roman numeral index and an inner square railway track, giving it a classic, geometric elegance reminiscent of traditional Art Deco styling. Adding great functional character, a framed square date window sits diagonally at the 4:30 position, balanced neatly by the minimalist baton hands and crisp "21 jewels" script. Powered by a dependable, high-jewel Swiss-derived manual-wind movement engineered for daily durability, the dial is signed with its historic "Made in USSR" pedigree at the bottom edge. Displaying an authentic vintage patina across its gold surfaces, this distinctive timepiece comes completed on a rich cognac-brown lizard-grain leather strap, making it a stellar executive dress piece for any vintage collector.
