2004 Smart Roadster – 43k Miles – Huge Recommissioning Work – Reluctant Sale

This is a very reluctant sale, much like most Roadsters that come up for sale… if you know, you know.

I actually saved this one from being broken for parts. It had spent its whole life in London and then sat for around two years as a non-runner due to water ingress issues. I had it trailered back to the Midlands and have gone properly to town bringing it back to life – no expense spared in getting it back to being the brilliant, iconic little sports car it should be.

Work Carried Out

• Brand new roof fabric and full roof mechanism overhaul (motor + gears replaced)
• Full service including brakes
• Known water ingress point under the wipers fully sealed (a permanent fix)
• SAM unit stripped and repaired – this was the root cause of it being off the road
• Brand new tyres fitted last week
• Interior stripped – carpets removed and floors inspected for any water damage
• All sorted and now running exactly as it should

She’s covered just 43,000 miles and is currently my daily driver, so mileage may increase slightly.

Condition

Mechanically, the car has been properly sorted and brought back to life.

Cosmetically:

• Not quite showroom yet (my original plan)
• One rear panel is a slightly lighter shade of grey
• A few age-related marks
• Light water mark on the driver’s seat from before the fix

Nothing major, just being completely honest – I was planning to get a smart repair done and have the seats professionally cleaned, but never got round to it.

Spec / Styling

• Panels swapped from champagne to glance grey
• Wheels upgraded – my personal favourite combination on a Roadster

Why am I selling?

You’ll probably notice another Smart in the photos… I’ve bought a non-running Brabus Coupe project, and it needs a lot of work. I just need to free up the funds to take that one to the level this one is now at.
